Teaching philosophy

SUMMARY: 

My teaching philosophy is rooted in a profound love for science and education.

Based on my teaching experience, my skills and interests can be summarized into three main areas

Active learning increases student success: I use multiple tools to promote active learning, including engaging lectures, small group discussions and attractive student materials.

Mentorship is a balance between independence and proper training: This approach has been successful with previous students to develop critical thinking and technical expertise, and open opportunities in their careers.

Pursuit of teaching excellence: Teaching excellence is a journey rather than a destination, and I use multiple tools to help me continually cultivate my teaching skills, including courses such as Effective Teaching Strategies for College Biology and literature reviews.
